Join us for a breathtaking photography experience in Cape Town, South Africa, on 2 & 3 December 2023 or 20 & 21 April 2024.. Witness the beauty of the sea & landscapes around Gordon’s Bay & the playfulness of the Cape Penguin colony at Boulders Beach while capturing stunning photographs.
In our practical photography session, you will learn how to push your OM Camera to its limits. We will teach you how to achieve consistently fast shutter speeds of 1/32000sec, with only occasional drops to 1/10000sec, allowing for sharp images of Cape Penguins & their interaction. You will leave with photos that will not only amaze your friends but also impress your peers.
In addition, we will teach you how to shoot landscapes at low ISO without a tripod, using your OM camera’s Computational High Res & In-Camera Stacking Modes. These features offer more freedom to chase the light & capture unique photos that will add fun & joy to your photography.
Furthermore, we will teach you how to edit & upscale your images using the latest photo editing technology, which allows for faster workflow & editing of images that previously may have been difficult to edit, such as high noise, small file size & underexposed images. All of this will be done without sacrificing your photographs’ authentic natural history value.

The African penguins (also known as Cape Penguins) of Boulders Beach that forms part of the Table Mountain National Park, South Africa, are a rare combination of exposure challenges, extreme raw action & total cuteness amidst the availability of great African light.
This workshop will cover the various camera features and settings that can be used to maximize your potential to capture great landscapes & penguin photos, including:
High-contrast landscape photography demands the same precision in exposure as penguin photography. Historically, a landscape photographer is pictured as lugging a heavy tripod around, shooting longer exposures at low ISO using small apertures. The consequences are that often only a few shots are captured in a session & many people swear off landscape photography. It doesn’t have to be that way.
The landscape seminar will cover an approach to landscape photography at low ISO, with good depth of field & without a tripod. We will cover:
In the afternoon, we will focus on Cape Penguins, putting the information learned in the seminars into practice.

Lou Coetzer will be the leader for the entire workshop. Lou is an award-winning nature and wildlife photographer. He has been a photographer for over 50 years, mastering the art & technology of photography starting in the days of film, through the early digital cameras, to today’s mirrorless cameras. Lou’s hard-earned skills are put to good use when shooting with OM System cameras, particularly the OM-1. Lou has established not only a reputation amongst his peers as a master photo editor but also for his willingness to share all his own knowledge generously.
”The new Olympus range of cameras has taken a technological leap over its competitors and are significantly lighter and easier to use. But beyond the equipment were the special settings created by Lou: one-click C1, C2 and C3 settings, created to shift to changing circumstances, which enabled me to freeze pin-sharp action or capture near-perfect stills.”
“I got shots I never would have gotten, simply because I adopted Lou’s C1, C2, C3, C4 systems.
The results were exceptional.
Working with Lou has made me a far better photographer, and it will do the same for you.”
”Using the incredibly fast OM-1 with the specialized system that he’s created. have completely changed how I approach and execute my photography.
You simply can’t ask for a better friend and mentor!”
