Join us in beautiful Western Cape in November 2023 and take advantage of the opportunity to capture great photos of the incredible landscapes and the sugarbirds.

Learn how to achieve the maximum shutter speed your DSLR camera is capable of, 1/8000 sec and up to 1/64000 sec in the case of mirrorless cameras, depending on the brand you are shooting with. This will enable you to capture sharp images of sugarbirds interacting that will wow your friends and peers.

Learn how to shoot landscapes at low ISO without a tripod and chase the light in a scene to capture unique photos.

AI EDITING SEMINAR - 25 NOV

An essential part of digital photography is the ability to edit the images captured. As digital camera technology has evolved, so has editing technology, allowing photographers to edit images they may have previously deleted and produce wonderful images.

In this session, Lou will edit a number of photos using:

Mastering super-fast workflow in no time.
DxO PhotoLab 6.
AI Noise reduction and AI sharpening.
Upscaling photo software.
Use the best photo editing & upscaling software to maintain the authentic natural history value of your hard-earned photographs.
Learning how to use the above features is both enjoyable and effortless. It will speed up your digital workflow and editing process by 90%.
All participants will receive evergreen training videos, up to DxO PhotoLab 6 software (a R 2500 excl VAT value) focused on the Nature Photographers’ specific needs

SUGARBIRDS & LANDSCAPES SEMINAR - 25 NOV

Birds, in general, and especially Sugarbirds, are challenging subjects to photograph. They can be small, move quickly, and change direction often. Capturing great bird images requires fast shutter speeds, accurate focus, good depth of field control, anticipated behaviour and the selection of the appropriate shooting modes

This workshop will cover the various camera features and settings that can be used to maximize your potential to capture great bird photos, including:

Maximizing the shutter speed
Shooting at high ISO
Anticipating the action
Focusing modes
Focusing grids
Understanding when and how to use pre-capture modes (Selected camera brands & models)
When to use Continuous AF, when to add Tracking and Bird Eye Detection

Historically, a landscape photographer is pictured as lugging a heavy tripod around, shooting longer exposures at low ISO using small apertures. The consequences are that often only a few shots are captured in a session and many people swear off landscape photography. It doesn’t have to be that way.

The landscape seminar will cover an approach to landscape photography at low ISO, with good depth of field, without a tripod. We will cover:

How to set up your camera
Shooting at low ISO without a tripod
Visualizing the compositions within a location
Chasing the light

In the morning, we will focus on Sugarbirds, putting the information learned in the seminars into practice.
